MOORHEAD (KFGO) — A Staples, Minnesota man is facing charges for allegedly stealing a trailer owned by Honor Flight of Fargo/Moorhead and burning the merchandise found inside.
Clay County Attorney Brian Melton filed charges against Robert Andert, 74, Monday. A criminal complaint says Andert stole the trailer early August 3 and brought it to his Staples home. Detectives searched the property Friday, August 7, and found a Honor Flight merchandise that had been burned in a burn pile.
Investigators say Andert admitted to the theft and destroying the merchandise. Melton says Andert destroyed about $30,000 worth of shirts, cups, tables, and carts.
Andert is charged with three counts of felony theft and one count of criminal property damage. He is in the Clay County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
