CENTER, N.D. (KFGO) – Oliver County State’s Attorney Patrick Waters says he is very pleased with North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley and Governor Kelly Armstrong’s decision to dismiss a petition for his removal.
The original petition included 23 total complaints against waters that alleged, among other things, Waters created a hostile work environment for county employees, refused to charge out cases of public safety and health referred by the Oliver County Sheriff’s Office, and illegally brought a gun into the Oliver County Courthouse.
The petition was unsuccessful after it was concluded the allegations did not meet the requirements for removal.
Waters says he is thankful that Wrigley and Armstrong noted a lack of facts that supported the petition, and that they came to the conclusion no further hearing was necessary.
“To the many people who came to my defense in response to the baseless and libelous assertions made by Ms. Dukart, I thank you. There are many good people in North Dakota who thankfully substantially outnumber the petty and spurious hacks that make participation in civic government anything but civil and often undeserving of the time or labor of those who aspire to serve the people with honesty and equanimity.” Waters said.
