CO Nick Bruesewitz (Karlstad) spent the week checking bear baits in the woods. Enforcement action was taken for bait materials that are not readily biodegradable and for abandoned property on a WMA.

CO Tony Hams (Warroad North) spent the week working on a pre-employment background investigation, attended training at Camp Ripley, monitored area ATV traffic, monitored bear baiting activity, and checked area anglers. Violations encountered were no license in possession, angling with extra lines, fail to signal for turn, and no driver’s license.

CO Bobby Stringer (Thief River Falls West) continues to focus on bear baiting activity within the district as the season rapidly approaches. Stringer observed multiple cases of ATV activity within WMAs, to include rutting and destroying adjacent corn. It is unlawful to operate an ATV within WMAs without permits, and a “zero” tolerance approach will be enforced. Enforcement actions for the week included abandoning equipment (trail cameras) on WMAs and a variety of bear bait violations.
CO Sarah Jahn (Thief River Falls East) attended a training at Camp Ripley. Time was also spent monitoring area bear baiting activity. A call about a car killed elk was handled. Nuisance animals calls where handled.

CO Nicholas Prachar (Blackduck 1) reports continued bear baiting activity. Time was spent working big game and ATV activity, as well as background investigations. Numerous nuisance bear calls have been fielded regarding bears damaging crops prior to harvest.

CO Tom Hutchins (Crookston) spent time this week following up on open case reports. Time was further spent checking anglers, watercraft operators, and public lands. The Norman County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on a call for assistance on the Red River.

CO Jamus Veit (Bemidji #1) spent the week patrolling the Cass Lake chain, working the info booth at the Beltrami County Fair, and following up on an ongoing case. Enforcement action was taken for an extra line violation, take fish without a license, and life jacket violation.
CO Andrew Goodman (Perham) fielded a variety of wildlife and electronic licensing related calls throughout the week. Recreational lake traffic slowed over the weekend, allowing time to focus on aquatic plant and public waters violations.

CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) spent the week checking forest areas for bear baiting activity. CO Swedberg and K9 Axel also assisted White Earth Police with a search and continued with their training.

CO Curtis Jepson (Osage) worked primarily angling and recreational vehicle enforcement. Numerous questions were fielded about various activities. As bear baiting season opened, Jepson would like to give a reminder to everyone to read the bear baiting regulations to stay in compliance. Enforcement action was taken for allowing juvenile ATV passengers to ride without helmets.

CO Angela Warren (Mahnomen) spent time on angling and boating activity. Boats were monitored for AIS compliance. Patrol was conducted for ATV and off-road vehicle activity. Activity in WMAs and WPAs was monitored. Areas were worked for bear baiting activity and information was provided for questions related to bear baiting rules, nuisance coyotes and regulations.

CO Bill Landmark (Moorhead) spent the week working on a background investigation and conducting ATV patrol in the station. Calls from the public were mostly related to injured wildlife. CO Landmark also taught the law and ethics portion of the Red River Riders ATV safety class. Enforcement action was taken for conducting taxidermy without a license and numerous ATV violations including no safety training and youth under 18 without helmets.

CO Brady Manteufel (Bagley) assisted with staffing booths at the Beltrami County Fair and Game Fair, in Anoka.

Bemidji #2 – vacant.

CO Hanna Wood (Fergus Falls) spent the week at Camp Ripley assisting in fall training. Follow-up on cases, boating, angling, and invasive species enforcement was also worked.

CO Tricia Plautz (Henning) attended division training, investigated an illegal trap, and captured an injured Red-Tailed Hawk and transferred it to a volunteer, who will transport to the Raptor Center. A background investigation into potential new employee continues.

CO Shane Osborne (Evansville) checked for AIS compliance at area accesses, checked boaters and ATVs. Annual training was attended at Camp Ripley. Firearm safety class and deer tagging with the new online license questions were received and answered.

CO Jake Homan (Alexandria) spent the week patrolling Douglas County for angling, ATV, and recreational boating activities. Time was spent at Camp Ripley attending training. Additional time was spent at the Douglas County Fair.
CO Felicia Znajda (Osakis) continues to assist CO’s throughout the state as they transition to the new Axon computer system. She still found time to patrol angling, boating, and ATV activity and attended annual training at Camp Ripley. Various enforcement action taken throughout the week.

CO Emily Douvier (Morris) reports working fishing and recreational enforcement. Extra enforcement on AIS was also worked.

CO Andrew Ladzinski (Glenwood) spent his time on boating enforcement and safety. He conducted a boating and water safety presentation for local youth at the Minnewaska High School Safety Camp. He took reports of ongoing nuisance beaver complaints. He attended training at Camp Ripley for annual firearms qualifications.
