FARGO (KFGO) – Southbound traffic on Interstate 29 outside of Fargo was reduced to a single lane Monday afternoon following a hay bale trailer fire.
Emergency responders were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. to I-29, approximately one mile south of 52nd Avenue, after receiving reports of a trailer carrying hay on fire.
Crews arriving at the scene found the trailer ablaze and worked from atop the vehicle to douse remaining hot spots and prevent smoldering debris from rekindling.
Multiple local agencies coordinated to extinguish the fire and direct traffic around the lane closure. Responding agencies included the West Fargo Rural Fire Department, Southern Valley Fire and Rescue, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
No injuries were immediately reported, and authorities have not yet determined what caused the fire. Drivers traveling southbound on I-29 through the area should expect brief delays while crews finish clearing the scene.
