FARGO (KVRR) – It’s the first day of the academic year for North Dakota State University, and the first chance for the University’s new President to participate in a time-honored tradition.
President Marshall Stewart took over at the helm of NDSU this spring after last serving as executive vice president at Kansas State University.
Monday morning, he was front and center for the annual Walk Through the Gates tradition, where new Bison officially begin their academic journeys.
Stewart says he wants all students to know he’s here to help NDSU continue to grow and flourish as an institution so it can provide the best possible education and college experience.
“We’re here to serve, we’re here to lead, we’re here to grow. We want to definitely be a part of not only serving the community, serving the state, the region, but also making this a special place,” said Stewart.
“We do that by being one NDSU. Bringing together not only our academic side, our research side, our extension side, but also the athletics, the foundation, and all the pieces that make NDSU what it is. One NDSU,” he continued, before adding, with a smile, “Go Bison.”
Stewart’s official inauguration ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 1.
