FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The Centers for Disease Control, or CDC, has released data regarding vaccination rates for kindergarteners.
Across the country, those rates are declining, and dropping sharply in states like North Dakota and Minnesota.
One jump the CDC considers particularly alarming are the number of reported non-medical exemptions from mandatory vaccinations.
In Minnesota in 2025-26, almost 7% of children received a non-medical exemption, while 8% did in North Dakota.
Both states have now fallen below the national average for coverage from illnesses like measles and mumps.
They are part of the 24 states now reporting exemptions above 5%.
So far, in 2026, the United States have seen their most reported measles cases since the year 1991.
