MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) – On “News and Views”, DFL State Representative-Elect Erika Yoney of Moorhead shared what she wants to work on once the Minnesota legislative session begins in January.
“Being true to what we said on the campaign trail, right? The things we talked a lot about were affordability and the cost of living and how to we make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” Yoney explained.
The psychiatric nurse practitioner said she’s gotten good input from Moorhead’s police chief.
“Chief [Chris] Helmick was sharing some really important concerns that they have around how do we support people with serious mental health concerns. I think given my professional background and the way that I’ve worked in [the] community, I think there’s some really powerful systems, levers we can work on,” Yoney said.
Yoney added she doesn’t have a personal relationship with Governor-Elect Amy Klobuchar which may be a good thing so they can start fresh.
Yoney also wants to focus on making the state more affordable.
