HANKINSON, N.D. (KFGO) – A Hankinson woman was arrested Sunday night after allegedly running from law enforcement and hitting a deputy in the leg.
Court documents say the Richland County Sheriff’s Office responded to rural Hankinson on reports of a UTV rollover crash.
Deputies say when they arrived they determined that Melissa Anderson had been driving the UTV while drunk. Court documents say Anderson fled from the deputies but was later caught. When trying to arrest Anderson, she allegedly kicked and punched a deputy in the leg.
Anderson is facing a felony charge of assaulting an officer. She pleaded not guilty Tuesday to misdemeanor charges of preventing arrest, refusing a chemical test and physical control.
