MINNESOTA (KVRR) — There are signs that competition for Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race may be heating up.
An aggregate of eight polls taken over the course of the year shows Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan has lost some ground over the past few months to Republican Michele Tafoya.
Real Clear Polling says that the issue of fraud has helped Tafoya’s numbers rise.
However, while the polls are close, RealClear reports the midterm environment and the state’s history favor Flanagan.
MSUM Political Science Professor Dr. Barbara Headrick doesn’t put to much faith in the poll and recommends people follow the money.
“The thing I would look at right now for the Minnesota senate race, where are the parties spending money? The national parties. are they putting money into the Minnesota race? That indicates that the parties see that as tightening,” Headrick said.
The prediction site Polymarket has an 86% chance of Flanagan winning the seat, and gives Tafoya a 14% chance at winning.
