JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KFGO) – The man facing attempted murder charges following an officer involved shooting near Kulm earlier this year is now accused of beating up a correctional officer in the Stutsman County Correctional Center.
Court documents say Elklin Gomez, 26, of Seattle, Washington reportedly refused to listen to instructions when getting off an elevator. Gomez allegedly became angry and attacked a correctional officer, punching the officer and headbutting them.
Court documents say the officer had redness on their neck and chest, was bleeding, and suffered a fractured nose during the fight. The officer said he thought Gomez was trying to kill him.
In May, Gomez was charged with attempted murder after an exchange of gunfire that resulted in McIntosh County Sheriff Steve Delzer being shot in the hand during an exchange of gunfire. He’s also accused of hitting a McIntosh County Deputy in the head with a tire jack.
