(KNFL/KFGO) – It would be the final Woodchippers game of the season, as Fargo would look to avoid a series loss to the Milwaukee Milkmen. Juan Diaz would go for Milwaukee, while Fargo would go with Eric Chalus on the mound.
Andy Blake would drive in the first run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning.
With runners on the corners, and Juan Fernandez at the plate in the bottom of the second, Milwaukee third baseman Edrick Felix made an error on a ground ball. That allowed Tucipita Marcano from third base to tie the game at 1.
Delvin Perez would give the Milkmen the lead back on an RBI single in the top of the third.
Tripp Clark would tie it at 2 with a solo home run in the bottom half of the third inning.
Juan Fernandez would give the Woodchippers their first lead on an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
With Carlos Linarez on third in the top of the fifth, Fargo’s Eric Chalus would throw a wild pitch that tied the game at 3. Andy Blake then gave the Milkmen the lead again on an RBI single in the same inning.
With Mason Pelio pitching in relief for Fargo, Yordys Valdés hit an RBI bloop single to left field in the top of the sixth. Alec Olund would then draw a bases-loaded walk to give Milwaukee a 6-3 lead.
The Milkmen would score three in the ninth on a Griffin Doersching RBI single, and a Charlie Marion two-run double, capping off a 9-3 victory for Milwaukee, as well as a series victory. The Milkmen ended up scoring seven unanswered runs en route to the win.
The winning pitcher was Juan Diaz of Milwaukee, as he went six innings, while giving up two earned runs, and striking out four. The losing pitcher was Eric Chalus of Fargo, who went 4 2/3 innings, while giving up four earned runs, and striking out four batters.
Fargo-Moorhead is now 48-43 on the season, and remain in third place in the West Division.
