FARGO (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a Christine man is dead after he was T-boned by a car fleeing from law enforcement in Cass County south of Fargo last night.
Troopers say they attempted to stop a car driven by a 19-year-old Grand Forks man just after midnight Sunday for going 109 mph in a 55 mph zone. The man turned off the car’s headlights and fled on Cass County Road 14. When the car got to the intersection of County Road 14 and County Road 81, the 19-year-old ran a stop sign and slammed into another car in the intersection, killing its driver. The Highway Patrol says the 49-year-old Christine man died at the scene.
The 19-year-old driver, and two juvenile passengers in the car that fled the Highway Patrol suffered non-life threatening injuries. They were all taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. Troopers are investigating if charges can be filed against the 19-year-old.
The Highway Patrol says everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Fargo Police, Sanford Ambulance and Southern Valley Fire & Rescue assisted the Highway Patrol at the scene.
