STANLEY TOWNSHIP, N.D. (KFGO) – There’s an uproar over an alleged conflict of interest involving Stanley Township Chair Kevin Biffert.
The township borders Fargo and Horace.
At a meeting earlier this week, people voted 89 to two to remove Biffert after he allegedly sold land to ConTek and voted to change the land’s zoning so the company could build a ready mix concrete plant.
Township officials won’t abide by the vote since state law requires a certain percentage of voters in a township to sign a complaint to remove a township chair.
“It’s very vague. There’s ow many freeholders are there in a township? The statute as it’s written by the Legislature is very hard to enforce,” Warren Solberg who lives in the township said.
“When we wanted to have a simple discussion as there should be about a potential conflict of interest, Kevin Biffert shot down all of those requests from the public just for us wanting transparency,” Bjorn Solberg who lives in the township said.
