(KFNL/KFGO) – The RedHawks were looking to sweep the three game series against the Sioux City Explorers on Thursday night. It wasn’t until the bottom of the 2nd inning that either team would score when Explorers’ D’Shawn Knowles hit a RBI double to make it 1-0.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Explorers would load the bases with no outs against RedHawks starter Matt Walker. Braulio Vásquez and Yorman Rodriguez would both hit sacrifice RBI’s before D’Shawn Knowles hit a RBI single to make it 4-0 Sioux City.
The RedHawks would get on the board in the top of the 4th with a Matt Kroon RBI single and a Juan Fernandez RBI double and it was 4-2.
In the bottom of the 5th the Explorers would add another run when Henry George hit a solo homerun to make it 5-2 Explorers.
Tripp Clark would lead the top of the 6th inning off with a double. Jose Sermo would bring Clark in on a RBI single to bring the RedHawks within two runs 5-3.
Sioux City would continue to produce runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Zac Vooletich would hit a RBI single and Henry George would hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-3 Sioux City. Alberto Osuna would hit a two run single and D’Shawn Knowles would hit a two run double before the inning would end and it was 11-3 Explorers after 6 innings.
Neither team would score after the 6th inning as the Explorers avoid the sweep and won 11-3.
