(KNFL/KFGO) – The RedHawks and Sioux Falls Canaries finished their four game series at Newman Outdoor Field on Monday night. The RedHawks would send Eric Chalus to the mound against Sioux Falls starter Chase Gearing.
In the top of the 1st, Josh Rehwaldt would hit a solo homerun to put the Canaries up 1-0. The RedHawks would counter in the bottom of the first when both Jesus Lujano and Eric Filia singled. With both runners on and one out, Dillon Thomas crushed a three-run shot to put the RedHawks up 3-1.
In the bottom of the 5th, Matt Kroon would hit a RBI single and Tucupita Marcano would follow with a two-run double to put the RedHawks up 6-1.
Brian Fuentes would add to the RedHawks lead in the 6th with a solo homerun to make it 7-1.
Eric Chalus would give the RedHawks a well needed deep inning start for their pitching staff. He would pitch 6.2 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 earned run, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
