DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (KFGO) — The Minnesota Highway Patrol says drivers overall made safer choices during WE Fest.
Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow says no serious crashes were reported during the four-day music festival. He credits that statistic to drivers making decisions that keep everyone safe.
“A lot more people are making those better choices when it comes to designated drivers, rider share, things like that,” Grabow says. “So that’s what we like to see. Get through a large event with that many people without anybody getting hurt or seriously injured or anything like that.”
Grabow says DUI arrest numbers remain low, which is a downward trend over the past few years.
“Troopers made over 1,000 traffic stops, resulting in 10 DWI arrests,” Grabow says. “It’s pretty consistent for what we’ve seen along the last several years… When we look back a couple decades, it wasn’t uncommon to get 50, 60 DWI arrests.”
Troopers made a total of 1,009 stops. 264 citations and 1,118 warnings were issued.
