FARGO (KFGO) — Charges have been filed against a Fargo man after police say he and a teenager stole a pistol.
Court documents say a man agreed to sell an AR-style pistol through BisMan, an online sales website. On July 18, the buyer, who said his name was Tyler Anderson, came to the man’s residence with another male. While filling out ownership transfer paperwork, police say the second person pointed a gun at the seller, and took the pistol. The two then fled in a white car. The victim told police the men stole the pistol and two loaded magazines.
Detectives used surveillance video, mugshots, and the phone number Anderson used to communicate with the victim to identify him as 18-year-old Daquan Dawson. They also identified the second person as a 17-year-old boy.
Investigators served a search warrant at the 17-year-old’s south Fargo residence Friday. They found the stolen gun. They also found an AK-style firearm. The boy has a conviction for conspiracy to commit robbery in 2023, and is also not allowed to have a gun because he is not 18. The teen was arrested for robbery with a firearm, theft of a firearm, and felon in possession of a gun.
Dawson was arrested at his job Friday. He was charged Monday with conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm and theft of a firearm. He is in the Cass County Jail.
The teen’s name will not be released due to their age.
Detectives also linked the teen and Dawson as acquaintances. In April, Dawson and the teen were together when Dawson was arrested for possession of a stolen handgun.
