FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO-KBRF) – Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls is alerting patients of a data security breach following a year long investigation.
On May 19, 2025, the company detected unauthorized access to its network impacting personal information. The investigation, which concluded on June 5, 2026, included a comprehensive review of the affected data to assess and identify the individuals and information that may have been impacted.
The impacted data contained personal information such as name, social security number, medical record number, and health insurance information.
Lake region health care is encouraging those impacted by monitoring healthcare records, financial accounts, and credit reports for suspicious activity.
They will also provide complimentary identity theft protection services to all of their patients.
Several law firms say they are investigating a potential class action lawsuit against lake region healthcare on behalf of patients whose personal information may have been exposed.
