ROME (KVRR) – A Roman Catholic priest who was born in North Dakota and ordained in Minnesota has been ex-communicated by Pope Leo.
Michael Goldade was one of the four Society of St. Pius X priests who was elevated, despite repeated warnings not to move forward.
The dispute centers on the group’s rejection of key Catholic Church reforms adopted during the Second Vatican Council in the 1960’s.
Goldade was born in Williston and grew up in St. Marys Kansas. He was ordained in Winona, Minn. in 2004.
The Vatican says any Catholics who formally join the group could also be ex-communicated from the church.
