Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson
MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson says with Moorhead growing at one of the fastest rates statewide, the city need’s help from the Minnesota Legislature.
Carlson says the population in Minnesota is shifting, and some of that population is moving out of the Twin Cities metro and into places like Clay County, which is now considered an urban county.
“That urban-ness is in the city of Moorhead and with Fargo we’re a quarter of a million people here, we’re the second largest metropolitan community outside of the metro. So we have urban issues, and we could really be successful if we had the right tools to attract more businesses across the river to Moorhead.” Carlson said.
Carlson is running for the Minnesota House in District 4A, she stayed in the race after losing the democratic endorsement to political newcomer Erika Yoney.
The mayor made her comments on KFGO News and Views with Joel Heitkamp.
