(KNFL/KFGO) The RedHawks would send Kyle Crigger to the mound Tuesday night to face Lincoln Saltdogs’ Chandler Woolridge in game two of the series. Woolridge would last only one inning as the RedHawks were up 3-0 at the end of the 1st inning without any big hits. Woolridge would allow runs to score on a bases loaded hit batter and two bases loaded walks. He would leave the game after the first inning giving up three earned runs, one hit, and four walks.
Kyle Crigger had two pick offs in the bottom of the first. First he picked off Saltdogs’ Cam Phelts at second base and then Nick Shumpert at first base.
The score would remain 3-0 until the top of the 6th when Carlos Amaya hit a long solo homerun off Saltdog’s pitcher Harold Cortijo to make it 4-0 RedHawks.
In the top of the 7th inning the RedHawks had two runners on when Dillon Thomas drilled a homerun for the second straight night to make it 7-0.
The Saltdogs would put up three runs in the bottom of the 7th. Connor Bagnieski would hit an RBI single, another run would score via wild pitch, and a third on a fielder’s choice making it 7-3.
The Saltdogs would strike again in the bottom of the 8th inning. Jairo Pomares crushed a two run homerun to make it 7-5.
In the 9th inning the RedHawks would have the bases loaded for Jesus Lujano who belted a two run single to put the RedHawks up 9-5.
It would be up to Drew Girtz to close the game down in the bottom of the 9th. A lead off double, a walk, and error would load the bases for the Saltdogs. A hit batsman would bring in a run to make it 9-6 and that would be all for Drew Girtz. With two outs, Chris Coste would bring in Parker Harm with the bases loaded and a three run lead. Harm would get Connor Bagnieski to hit a deep fly ball that looked like it might leave the park, but the wind kept it in and was caught by Dillon Thomas at the wall to end the game.
Kyle Crigger went 6 innings, giving up 8 hits, 3 runs, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Parker Harm earned his first save of the season.
The RedHawks will go for the series sweep against the Saltdogs tomorrow night. Pregame is at 6:15pm on 740AM The FAN/ 107.3, 740theFAN.com, and The FAN Mobile App.
