FARGO, N.D. (KNFL/KFGO/KVRR) – According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, the NCAA Division I Cabinet has approved a measure allowing teams transitioning from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the FBS to become immediately eligible for postseason competition, provided they meet all FBS requirements. The move directly impacts North Dakota State and Sacramento State, both of which are beginning the transition process this year.
The change eliminates the NCAA’s previous two-year postseason probationary period for transitioning programs, opening the door for eligible schools to compete in bowl games during their first season at the FBS level.
The Bison open their first season in the FBS against Jacksonville State on August 29th.
