FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – An engineer for the City of Fargo says they’re planning to partially reopen the intersection of 32nd Avenue and University Drive. The intersection will likely open Friday for north and south traffic.
The intersection has been closed since last month. Jason Leonard with the city’s Design and Construction Division says the infrastructure being put in plays an important role.
“32nd Avenue is actually a very large drainage area. It’s a huge network that was under capacity, so we are actually increasing the capacity with a dual trunk main,” Leonard says. “At the end of the day, we’re going to reduce flooding and stormwater impacts with this project.”
Leonard says the city knows closing popular intersections can be frustrating for Fargo residents, but want to make sure the job is being completed with high quality standards.
“We’re making sure that we’re keeping businesses informed of these different closures, how they’re going to be impacted,” Leonard says.
