BISMARCK (KFGO) – North Dakota Health and Human Services is announcing snap benefits are available for North Dakota SNAP participants who lost food due to power outages caused by the storms this month. SNAP households that lost power for more than four hours must report to Health and Human Services within ten days from when food was spoiled due to the power outages. The program will replace the amount of the loss up to the monthly benefit amount.
Households receiving services from a power company in the locations listed below may request replacement SNAP benefits.
Montana-Dakota Utilities Company (MDU)

- Beulah
- Corinth
- Hazen
- Hebron
- Dickinson
- New England
- Northwest Mandan
- Zap
Otter Tail Power Company
- Anamoose
- Garrison
- Max
- Surrey
- Velva
Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative and MDU
- Burke County
- Divide County
North Dakota Health and Human Services says if a household reports a food loss of $50 and the household received $100 in SNAP benefits for June, $50 in replacement benefits will be issued once the loss is verified. The maximum replacement amount cannot be more than the June benefit amount the household received.
