(KNFL/KFGO) – The FM RedHawks returned to Newman Outdoor Field Tuesday night to face the Kansas City Monarchs.
In the top of the 1st inning, the Monarchs would score two runs on Saul Garza and Hudson Head RBI singles.
The RedHawks would cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first when Colby Wilkerson would bring in Juan Fernandez with a single making it 2-1.
In the bottom of the 2nd the RedHawks would load the bases. Both Jesus Lejano and Aidan Bryne would steal bases. Juan Fernandez would tie the game with a bases loaded single. With the bases still loaded, Dillon Thomas would crush a Dakota Chalmers pitch out of Newman Outdoor Field for a grand slam to make it 6-2 RedHawks.
The Monarchs would get another run off an Austin Callahan RBI double in the 3rd to make it 6-3. But the RedHawks would add two more runs in the bottom of the third on a Jesus Lujano two run double to give the RedHawks a 8-3 lead.
The RedHawks would continue to add runs in the 4th inning. Aidan Byrne, Jairus Richards, Carlos Amaya, and Brian Fuentes would all bring in runners to make it 12-3.
In the 5th inning the RedHawks had a 13-4 lead with two men on base when Brian Fuentes hit a 421 foot home run to center field making it 16-4 RedHawks.
The Monarchs would score two more runs in the 8th, but that would be all as the RedHawks went on to win 16-6.
Every RedHawks hitter would have at least one hit in tonight’s game with a team total of 19 hits.
RedHawks’ Angelo Cabral (1-0) would get the Win and Monarchs’ Dakota Chalmers (0-2) would get the Loss.
