(KNFL/KFGO) – The FM RedHawks would bring their league best bats to Kansas City Tuesday night to face the league’s best pitching team; the Kansas City Monarchs. It would be RedHawks’ Patrick Wicklander taking the mound against the Monarchs’ Ryan Garcia.
Kansas City’s Ryan Garcia would give up a leadoff hit to Jesus Lujano in the 1st inning and then retire the next 12 hitters.
Neither team would score until the bottom of the 3rd when Morarchs’ Austin Callahan hit an RBI single scoring Marcus Smith to make it 1-0. That would be all the Monarch’s would need as their pitchers held the RedHawks to just 3 hits tonight and no runs.
Patrick Wicklander had perhaps the best start for the RedHawks this season thus far. He pitched 5 innings, surrendering 4 hits, 1 run, with 7 strikeouts and 3 walks.
The RedHawks and Monarchs will play game two of the three game series on Wednesday afternoon. Pregame starts at 12:45pm on 740AM The FAN/107.3FM, 740thefan.com, and The FAN Mobile App
