May 11 (Reuters) – Italian automation company Comau and U.S.-based Omron Robotics said on Monday they had signed a strategic collaboration agreement aimed at expanding automation solutions for industrial manufacturing.
The partnership aims to combine Comau’s robotics expertise with Omron’s technologies and software capabilities, the companies said in a statement. It will target high-growth sectors such as electronics, semiconductors, medical manufacturing and light industrial intralogistics, they added.
• Omron Robotics is part of Japan-listed Omron, while Comau is 50.1% owned by One Equity Partners and 49.9% by Stellantis
• “This collaboration … strengthens Comau’s presence in high-growth sectors and new geographies,” Comau CEO Pietro Gorlier said
• Comau and Omron view the partnership as a “platform for future joint initiatives”, they said
