Kristin Robbins
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO/WCOO) – Minnesota State Representative Kristin Robbins of Maple Grove announced Friday morning that she has terminated her campaign for Governor.
“I got into this race last August to defeat Tim Walz,” Robbins said in a statement. “Minnesota could not take four more years of fraud, tax increases, and out-of-control government spending. His radical woke agenda is hurting our kids and making our communities less safe.”
Despite a focus on fraud, Robbins never got much traction in a crowded field that includes former candidate Kendall Qualls, former MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell and the presumed front-runner current House Speaker Lisa Demuth.
“Minnesota faces a choice: we can be the next state to fall to socialism, OR we can be the firewall that stops the spread of this ideology that has caused millions around the world to suffer in the name of “equality.” Socialism creates a bifurcated society that allows the powerful to live in luxury on the fruits of corruption, insulated from the effects of their policies that keep the masses trapped in government-run housing, education, and healthcare,” Robbins continued in her statement.
Robbins says she’ll continue to serve out her term until January.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the people of my wonderful House District 37A until January 2027, and I will continue to work hard for all of you every day,” she added. “Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I look forward to finding new ways to serve and build with all of you!”
Already, three Republicans have dropped out of what started as a very crowded race.
Chris Madel withdrew from the race in January criticizing the GOP’s handling of immigration enforcement and actions by federal immigration officers (ICE) in Minnesota. Walz’s 2022 opponent, Scott Jensen, withdrew to run for state auditor. And Jeff Johnson suspended his campaign following a family emergency.
With Walz deciding earlier this year not to run for a third term, Minnesota senior U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar has declared she’s running for governor as a Democrat.
