Sobriety checkpoint in Fargo (KFGO News file/ND State Patrol)
FARGO (KFGO) – A sobriety checkpoint is set for Friday in the Fargo area.
The state patrol and Cass County Sheriff’s Office say the checkpoint will be at a predetermined, undisclosed location. The checkpoint will be followed by saturation patrols.
As of August 28, there have been 57 fatalities in North Dakota. Sixteen of the fatalities (28%) have been related to crashes involving alcohol.
Sgt. Adam Malafa, the patrol’s Southeast Regional Sergeant said “Every time you choose to drive sober, you protect lives, yours and everyone else’s on the road. Responsibility behind the wheel isn’t just a choice; it’s a commitment to your community’s safety.”
The patrol says it remains committed to the Vision Zero strategy, to establish a culture of personal responsibility and that every driver needs to consistently make the responsible choice to always drive sober or plan for a sober ride home.
