ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO) – The Alexandria Police Chief is criticizing members of his community after his department asked for help identifying a bank robber.
The robbery was caught on the bank’s security cameras, and the Alexandria Police Department posted photos of the robber to it’s Facebook page, asking for the public’s help identifying the man.
Police Chief Scott Kent says the comments on the post were extremely negative and racist, and the department deleted the post.
“I know that our community is better, and I know that our community can do better,” Kent said. “These efforts to be transparent are going to continue. We’re going to continue to spread and share that information, especially when we have crimes and we need the public’s help. But what we will not do is tolerate these hateful comments.”
The Alexandria Police Department has disabled commenting on all it’s Facebook posts.
49-year-old Victor Wallace was arrested Friday in West Fargo in connection to the robbery.
