FARGO (KFGO-KVRR) — Animal advocacy group PETA made a stop in Fargo on Friday to promote veganism.
They brought along a display, which is a truck with life-sized pictures of turkey in cages printed on the sides that plays the recorded sounds of turkeys.
It is part of PETA’s nationwide campaign called Hell On Wheels.
The trucks are making stops to show people how turkeys, pigs, and chickens are treated before they make it to the dinner table.
“They are bred to grow so quickly so fast that they sometimes collapse under themselves. And we’ve had numerous investigations into the turkey industry showing abusive practices up to and including throwing turkeys into walls, hitting them over the head with pipes, and even sexually abusing them,” said PETA Associate Director Amber Canavan.
Canavan says the truck is touring the country to promote PETA’s ideals.
