HOOPLE, N.D. (KFGO) – Fire has destroyed a warehouse full of potatoes in Hoople.
The call came in around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. About three hours later, a Walsh County Sheriff’s deputy reported the south wall of the warehouse was engulfed in flames.
Hoople Fire Chief Aaron Larman said the fire attack had to be placed on hold until power and propane gas service were removed from the building. Crews from Hoople, Park River, Edinburg and Crystal responded to the call. Park River Ambulance and the Walsh County Paramedic Team were also dispatched.
A spokesman for the Walsh County Sheriff’s Office says most of the crews were cleared from the scene by around 6:30 p.m. As of 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, the fire was still smoldering and Larman expected it to continue for a while.
