PIERRE, S.D. (KFGO) – Two North Dakota men arrested for a South Dakota bank robbery after their getaway car ran out of gas have been sentenced to federal prison.
Court records say the two men from New Town drove to Eagle Butte and held up the bank armed with BB guns and dressed in black. The men pointed the guns at employees and a customer, demanded money, and forced them into a bathroom. The two men fled.
Law enforcement began a high-speed pursuit of up to 115 miles per hour that ended when the vehicle ran out of gas.
In the vehicle, officers found the stolen money, the black clothing, and the BB guns. Both men pleaded guilty to the crime.
