Lou Bennett (West Funeral Home)
WEST FARGO (KFGO) – Former KFGO weather forecaster Lou Bennett has died.
Bennett handled weather duties along with Terry Spies for about six years, leaving the station in 2006.
Bennett grew up in South Carolina and served in the Air Force for 20 years before he joined the National Weather Service where he worked for 18 years. Bennett was hired by KFGO shortly after his retirement from the weather service. He led the Fargo office of the weather service during its transition to Grand Forks.
Bennett spent his summers on Star Lake in western Minnesota and served three terms of the West Fargo City Commission. He’s survived by his wife, Barb, and four daughters.
A celebration of life is set for from 11 to noon Tuesday at West Funeral Home in West Fargo. The funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. A private burial at Fargo National Cemetery for immediate family will be held later.
Bennett was 85.
