WATERTOWN, S.D. (KFGO/KWAT) – Watertown, South Dakota Fire Rescue was called out late Thursday night on a report of a person trapped in a sinking car a mile north of Watertown on Interstate 29.
While on their way, they learned the person had safely gotten out and swam to a bystander’s vehicle.
The car left the Interstate after encountering about 10 inches of water on the road that flooded both lanes.
The car was barely visible, with only the rear bumper above water.
Interstate 29 was shut down temporarily for about four miles.
