MOORHEAD (KFGO) — The Minnesota BCA has identified those involved in an officer-involved shooting in Moorhead.
42-year-old Nathan Heiberg and 41-year-old Lucas Heiberg were killed in the August 11 incident.
The BCA says Moorhead Police responded to an apartment in the 2400 block of Third Avenue North just after 8:45 Monday evening for a domestic assault. The woman told officers the two men assaulted her, and that there were still two children inside the apartment. The BCA says a gun was fired inside the apartment when officers started to go inside.
Red River Valley SWAT was called, and nearby apartments were evacuated. SWAT officers got into the apartment, and the BCA says shots were exchanged. Lucas Heiberg was pronounced dead at the scene, and Nathan Heiberg died at the hospital.
Two children were found inside the apartment unharmed.
The officers who fired their weapons have been identified as Sgt. Michael Anderson, Sgt. Kyle Seehusen, and Officer Tyler Seehusen. All are Fargo Police officers and members of the SWAT team. They all have at least 8 year’s experience, and are on critical incident leave.
The BCA says it will not recommend charges against the officers.
