District 1 – Baudette area

CO Tony Hams (Warroad North) spent the week checking area anglers, monitoring ATV traffic, following up on various complaints, and attending a regional meeting at Itasca State Park. Violations encountered were operating ATV without headlights, driving after revocation, expired registration, exceed speed limit, and no insurance.
CO Coby Fontes (Warroad South) spent the week patrolling the Beltrami Island State Forest, where enforcement action was taken for operating an ATV in a closed area, expired ATV registration, and operating an ATV with un-helmeted children inside. Fontes also participated in training and assisted with the funeral of retired Rosemount Police Chief, Red Staats.
CO Nicholas Prachar (Baudette West) reports that angler success is on an upswing. Time was spent working angling, ATV, and big game activity. Prachar spent time at Camp Ripley to assist with Academy instruction.
CO Paul Kennedy (Baudette East) spent time at several events including participating at the National Night Out in Baudette, and working the TIP booth at the Beltrami County Fair. He assisted other agencies with calls for service throughout the week. Anglers were checked along the Rainy River with some reports of smaller sturgeon caught. Enforcement action for the week included driving after revocation, operating ATV without lights, and operating ATV on a State highway.
CO Bobby Stringer (Thief River Falls West) reports an active week with outreach and education. Stringer attended a wildlife/fur speaking engagement with Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren, MN, and presented law and ethics education for a Pennington County firearms safety course held at the local sportsman club. Overall, 24 newly and eager certified hunters are ready for the upcoming youth season. Other Enforcement actions for the week included multiple angling with no license, no angling license in possession, and angling with an extra line.
CO Nick Bruesewitz (Karlstad) assisted with running stations at the Lake Bronson 4-H camp where campers learned the importance of resource management regarding population control, over consumption, and poaching. Time was spent preparing for the upcoming bear season.
CO Brice Vollbrecht (Blackduck North) assisted with the CO Academy and taught cadets big game regulations. Officer spent time patrolling Upper Red Lake for angling activity. While driving north on Hwy 71, CO Vollbrecht came across a flipped over pontoon on the side of the highway and an empty trailer near a pick up truck. The pontoon turned over while taking a corner. Officer assisted with traffic control while a local tow company removed the watercraft.
CO Brianna Shaw (Blackduck South) made an appearance at the Beltrami County Fair where she provided information and answered questions regarding regulations and the TIP program. Additional time was spent addressing trespass and problem black bear complaints. Shaw also worked ATV enforcement with CO Veit and CO Manteufel.

District 2 – Bemidji area

CO Jamus Veit (Bemidji #1) spent the week attending a regional meeting at Itasca State Park, instructing at Camp Ripley, and working a booth at Beltrami County Fair, with the TIP trailer; speaking with community members and answering questions. Time was also spent monitoring ATV activity on local trails. Enforcement action was taken for ATV – fail to display registration, ATV helmets required, and ATV – permitting unlawful operation.
CO Andrew Goodman (Perham) spent the week attending a regional enforcement meeting, speaking at a firearms safety class, and conducting site visits with local government units. Water related commercial licenses and permits were inspected. A DUI arrest was made, where the subject is facing their second alleged driving while intoxicated offense within two months of each other.
CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) spent the week patrolling for ATV activity, checking anglers, and assisting local agencies with calls for service. It was a busy weekend in Detroit Lakes with the annual WeFest country music festival bringing a lot of people to town. CO Swedberg and K9 Axel also assisted Thief River area officers with a K9 demo at a camp in Lake Bronson State Park. CO Swedberg also spent time following up on other shoreline complaints and spoke with a local lake service provider about their license status.
CO Jordan Anderson (Osage) continued to assist with academy instruction and spent time on ATV and Off-Highway Motorcycle enforcement. Preparations were made for the upcoming field training process for the Conservation Officers finishing up in the academy. Enforcement action for the week included No Seatbelt on a Class 2 ATV, Operate an OHM on a public road, Under 18 on a motorcycle without a helmet and a DWI arrest.
CO William Landmark (Moorhead) spent the week teaching big and small game laws at the CO Academy.
CO Angela Warren (Mahnomen) spent time on ATV and ORV activity. AIS compliance inspections were performed. Angling and boating activity were worked with anglers reporting a slowed bite. Leeching ponds were monitored for regulation compliance. Officer Warren attended a regional enforcement meeting.
CO Matthew Boyle (Pelican Rapids) spent time patrolling area lakes for fishing activity, mixed reports of success were seen with both walleye and pan fish. Follow up was completed on various shoreline violations. Boyle also spent time patrolling the station for recreational vehicles; less ATV activity was seen this week.
CO Brady Manteufel (Bagley) patrolled the Wilton trail and conducted ATV enforcement. Public lands were walked, and area lakes and accesses were checked. Time was spent working the turn in poachers display at the Beltrami County Fair.

District 3 – Fergus Falls area

CO Tricia Plautz (Henning) assisted with a district Firearms Safety Field Day, worked ATV, fishing and boating enforcement. Training was attended and public waters violation was investigated.
CO Ryan Brown (Elbow Lake) reports focusing most of his enforcement on ATV and angling during the week. Trespass and miscellaneous wildlife complaints were also received and fielded. Additional time was spent at a firearm safety class in Brandon.
CO Shane Osborne (Evansville) continues to work with area hydrologists on public waters violations. An all-day firearm safety field and range day was attended with other District 3 Conservation Officers. Dead and injured animal complaints were received and handled.
CO Jake Homan (Alexandria) spent the week patrolling Douglas and Pope Counties. A large portion of time was spent patrolling area lakes for recreational boating and angling activities. Assistance was given to Wadena County on locating and arresting a suspect in a burglary. Enforcement action was taken on numerous angling violations.
CO Felicia Znajda (Osakis) spent the week patrolling the surrounding lakes. Warm weather brought lots of boating activity, while the fishing reports were not so great. Patrol efforts were also focused on ATV traffic due to the multiple driving complaints. She taught at firearm safety class in Douglas County and attended annual training.
CO Curtis Jepson (Wheaton) checked area anglers and worked ATV enforcement during the week. The officer attended the annual enforcement meeting at Itasca State Park. He also conducted squad maintenance and inventoried equipment.
CO Emily Douvier (Morris) spent time checking fisherman and completing a firearm safety class with district partners. August roadside surveys were also completed and provided promising numbers for the fall pheasant season. An injured hawk was captured and arranged for delivery to the raptor center.
CO Andrew Ladzinski (Glenwood) spent time familiarizing himself with the Glenwood area. He assisted other local officers with a firearms safety class for 30 students. He took part in regional training on new natural resource law updates.
District 4 – Walker area

CO Patrick McGowan (Cass Lake) worked Leech and Winnibigoshish lakes during the week. CO McGowan also assisted with training at Camp Ripley for the new class of conversation officers. Enforcement action was taken for numerous fishing and boating violations during the week.
CO Corey Sura (Remer) assisted with academy training at Camp Ripley. Time was spent working ATV complaints. Sura responded to a call to assist Cass County Sheriff’s Office for an individual who went into the water and did not resurface. Anglers were checked on area lakes. Enforcement action was taken for possessing illegal length pike.
CO Jacque Johnson (Longville) checked ATV and angling activity. She spoke at a firearm safety class and responded to an injured animal call.
CO Levi Brown (Staples) attended a regional meeting this week to get updates on recent law changes. Brown also spent time patrolling local areas where ATV’s are active. Brown made contact with multiple boaters this weekend enjoying the warm weather.
