Grain elevator fire in Shelly, Minn. (contributed)
SHELLY, Minn. (KFGO) – First responders are fighting a major fire at a large grain elevator in Shelly this morning.
The Norman County Sheriff’s Office has asked that all residents evacuate as a precaution. Fire departments from around the area have responded to the fire.
Sheriff Ben Fall and Emergency Manager Garry Johansson says multiple agencies are providing assistance in managing the fire. The red cross is on scene.
Fall is asking the public to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel full access. Road closures are in effect on County roads 3 and 18.
Shelly has about 180 residents. It’s around 45 miles north of Moorhead on Highway 75.
