MOORHEAD (KFGO) – The Moorhead Police Department will be conducting targeted traffic enforcement in response to community concerns.
“As the City of Moorhead awaits the results of the Minnesota State Patrol’s investigation into last week’s tragic accident involving 9-year-old Adam Amin, and as the engineering department evaluates safety needs along the 40th Avenue corridor, the Moorhead Police Department will increase traffic enforcement in that area and other key locations throughout the city,” said Police Chief Chris Helmick. “These enforcement efforts will be ongoing leading up to the start of the school year,” Helmick continued.
Helmick added, “While traffic safety should never be dependent on the presence of law enforcement, our officers will be more visible to remind drivers of our shared responsibility in keeping Moorhead streets safe. Our officers can’t be everywhere, but we will do our part when we can, and we ask the public to do theirs as they travel through the city.”
Moorhead police encourage the public to report traffic or driving-related concerns to Red River Regional Dispatch Center. The complaints are assigned to officers for further investigation.
Amin was crossing 40th Avenue S. when he was struck and killed by a city employee driving a city-owned truck.
