BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO-KVRR) — Governor Kelly Armstrong signed an executive order Monday declaring a statewide fire emergency and activating the State Emergency Operations Plans.
Above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation amounts have led to drought conditions and increased the risk of wildfires.
The declaration means that all state agencies, including North Dakota Department of Emergency Services, North Dakota Forest Service and North Dakota National Guard, must all be on standby.
The order lasts until May 31.
