MINNEAPOLIS—After losing his bid for the U.S. Senate in 2024, Republican Royce White has announced he’ll run for Congress again in 2026.
U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar defeated a challenge from White in the latest election, comfortably winning a fourth term in Congress by a 15.8% margin.
White, a former NBA player scrutinized during the campaign for his controversial remarks, took to social media Thursday to tell his supporters his political plans have not ended with the 2024 results.
He intends to run against Tina Smith for U.S. Senate in 2026 and he says the campaign starts now. White says more voters supported him than any of Klobuchar’s past challengers.
He also suggested he could challenge Governor Tim Walz in 2026.
