Fargo (KFGO) – A Fargo man has been charged with gross sexual imposition after an incident at a Fargo hotel last Friday.
According to court documents, Fargo Police were dispatched to a hotel on 14th Ave. S early on the morning of October 18 after receiving a report of sexual assault. Richard Natee, 38, is accused of engaging in a sexual act with a woman who was sleeping at the time.
When officers arrived, the victim was visibly upset and asked to press charges. The victim told officers three people had been drinking and that Natee, a friend of her boyfriend’s, was there because he had no place to stay. She says she was sleeping when Natee had sex with her without her consent. A witness, the victim’s boyfriend, said that he awoke to her screaming as Natee got off of her.
Natee, who appeared intoxicated and struggled to maintain balance during questioning, claimed the sex was consensual. Officers stated the man was incoherent, due to his level of intoxication and could not recall the name of the club they started drinking at the night before.
Natee was arrested and taken to Essentia Health for medical clearance before being booked into the Cass County Jail. The victim was transported to Sanford Health for a sexual assault examination.
If convicted, Natee could face a minimum of five years of supervised probation and mandatory registration as a sexual offender.
The investigation remains ongoing.
