Girl dies after being struck by pickup in southeast South Dakota

YANKTON, S.D. (KFGO) – A 5-year-old girl is dead after being hit by a pickup while crossing the street in Yankton Tuesday.  

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. near Fantle Memorial Park.  

The Department of Safety says the 60-year-old man driving the pickup didn’t see the girl.   

The girl, also from Yankton, died at a hospital.   

The Highway Patrol is investigating.
