FARGO (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint at a predetermined location in Cass County on Friday Oct. 4.
The checkpoint will be followed by saturation patrols. The location of the checkpoint will not be released prior to the enforcement event.
Sgt. Andrew Cashin, Southeast Regional Sergeant said, “Drinking alcohol or using substances that affect your driving impairs judgment, reaction times, and coordination, and increases the risk of crashes that result in injury or death to yourself and others. Our goal is to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.”
As of September 20, there have been 68 fatalities on North Dakota roads. Ten of the fatalities have been related to crashes involving alcohol. The patrol says it is committed to the Vision Zero strategy which aims to establish a culture of personal responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.
