EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KFGO) – A Twin Cities man has been charged with arson after federal prosecutors say he set a townhome on fire with children inside.
The morning of May 31, 23-year-old Abdirahman Abdullahi of Eden Prairie is accused of setting fire to the home of a woman who had a restraining order against him.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, one person was outside with four children who also escaped the blaze, but a 9-month-old was still inside. The baby was rescued and taken to the hospital.
The baby survived.
Investigators say they identified Abdullahi through surveillance video. They say he sent a threatening message to the woman two days before the fire.
When officers arrested Abdullahi, they found clothes that matched those worn in the video.
