FARGO (KFGO) – No one was hurt, but a downtown Fargo apartment building sustained significant fire damage Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were called shortly before 7 a.m. to a report of fire in the north units of an apartment building owned by the Fargo Housing Authority at 355 4th Avenue N.
Fargo Fire chief Steve Dirksen said initial reports from police officers at the scene were that there was fire on the first and second floors and people were trapped.
“Everybody was able to self-evacuate, some with a little bit of assistance from Fargo Police officers,” Dirksen said. “Crews on-scene reported heavy fire when they got there.”
Dirksen said people from at least five, possibly six units will be displaced.
Fargo Fire was assisted by Fargo Police, Sanford Ambulance, and the Red River Valley UAS team.
The cause is under investigation.
