WEST FARGO (KFGO) – A long-time West Fargo resident is running for city commission.
Rory Jorgensen has lived in the city 54 years. He works for Servpro in commercial reconstruction and spent 25 years with the West Fargo Fire Department and was chief of the West Fargo Rural Fire Department before retiring from fire service in 2019.
Jorgensen says the city is poised for more development.
“Developers want the land west of the diversion. They want the roads in. So, when the big diversion comes in, they can start building. The school district already bought land north of town up by the horse park. It’s going to take off again,” Jorgensen says.
Jorgensen says West Fargo also needs more apartment buildings.
“Fargo has 4% vacancy. West Fargo has 2%. There’s no dirt to build an apartment building on. We need to get ahead of it,” Jorgensen says.
Jorgensen is married to a West Fargo police officer.
Also running for the commission are Tyler Erickson, Amy Zundel and John Severson.
Two seats will be on the June ballot with commissioners Mark Simmons and Mandy George not seeking re-election.
