FARGO (KFGO) – The search for a man who ran from police and entered the Red River on Monday resumed Tuesday morning for short time, but it was called off at about noon.
Fargo police responded to a report of a disturbance and altercation at 9 Lower Terrace North around 2:35 p.m. Monday. When officers attempted to interview one of the people involved, the man ran and jumped into the river. The Fargo and Moorhead Fire Departments, Fargo and Moorhead Police, and Clay County Sheriff’s deputies, and Valley Water Rescue searched for the man but called off the search due to darkness Monday evening.
Divers and volunteers from Valley Water Rescue, along with Fargo Police, were back on the scene Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday afternoon a police spokesperson told KFGO News the search has been called off without a body having been located. Police say the female victim in the altercation who initially left the scene on Monday has been identified and that she has given investigators a statement.
