ST. ANTHONY, Minn. – The St. Anthony, Minnesota Fire Chief was in the right place at the right time and helped save a life.
According to the fire department, Fire Chief Mark Sitarz was driving to work Wednesday when he saw a small child run across a road. As he called in assistance, it was determined the child was autistic and had taken off from parents nearby.
Chief Sitarz followed the child, who entered a muck-filled pond. He didn’t hesitate, and jumped in after the child and pulled him to safety.
