LINCOLN, Neb. – A small portion of Minnesota is in extreme drought for the first time this season.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor map shows 1.5% of the state in extreme drought in the St. Cloud region, north metro, and Rochester area.
More than 18% of Minnesota is in a severe drought, and 70% in a moderate drought. The entire state remains abnormally dry.
The data in this report does not include the rainfall that many areas received from Wednesday’s thunderstorms.
